Capitol Federal® Announces Carl Ricketts Retirement and Anthony Barry Named as Successor
August 29, 2018

Topeka, Kan - John B. Dicus, Chairman of Capitol Federal® Savings Bank, Topeka, announced today that Executive Vice President Carl Ricketts will retire from the Bank in February 2019.  “It is with both joy and regret,” states Dicus, “that I announce Carl Ricketts will retire from Capitol Federal next year.  Carl will have provided Capitol Federal with 12 years of leadership, serving his last 7 years as Executive Vice President,”

Ricketts started at Capitol Federal in 2007 as Chief Strategic Officer.  Prior to joining Capitol Federal Ricketts spent 25 years in the electric and gas utility industry, the last 12 years in executive management.  In 2012 Ricketts was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Services Officer.  In this role he has managed Marketing, Information Technology, Compliance and Risk Management, Human Resources, Facilities, Capitol Agency and Appraisals.

Ricketts also represented Capitol Federal in the community, serving on several boards and committees for organizations.  Among them are Midland Care, Family Service and Guidance Center, Emporia State University Business School of Advisors, ESU Foundation Board of Trustees, Boys and Girls Club of Topeka, and the Downtown Topeka Rotary Club.  He truly lives Capitol Federal’s belief in “Commitment to Community”.

“The Capitol Federal board of directors and employees congratulate Carl on his retirement,” continued Dicus, “and we extend our sincere appreciation for his 12 years of service to the Bank and its customers.  Well respected by his peers and co-workers, his leadership qualities, shared throughout many areas and aspects of the Bank, proved invaluable to Capitol Federal, its employees and customers.  Carl’s experience and managerial skills during a changing environment in the banking industry have been vital to Capitol Federal.”

With Ricketts retirement, Chairman Dicus announced the hiring of Anthony (Tony) Barry to lead the Corporate Services Division.  Mr. Barry comes to Capitol Federal after being in private law practice for 29 years.  He has been a partner in Barry Law Offices, LLC since 1990.  In addition to his law practice Tony has also served as President of Associates Management Corporation since 1990.  Associates Management is a property development and management company located in Topeka, Kansas.  Barry is a 1986 graduate of Washburn University with a degree in Economics.  He received a Juris Doctorate Degree from Washburn University School of Law in 1989.  Barry has served in the banking industry as a board member of a bank holding company in Arizona from 1998-2008.

Chairman Dicus stated, “Tony’s background in the practice of law and in property management will be a great fit for his role as the Chief Corporate Services Officer.  Working with a diverse client base in both professions provides a management background that Tony can leverage as he leads the different areas of Capitol Federal that will report to him.  We look forward to working with Tony and taking the Bank forward as we make this transition.”

Like Ricketts, Barry continues Capitol Federal’s corporate principal of “Commitment to the Community”.  Barry’s commitment to the Topeka community is reflected by his former service as the President of the Active Topeka 20-30 Club, Advisory Board Member for CASA Topeka, CASA Finance Committee, President of the Hayden High School Foundation Board, and Hayden High School Board of Trustees, as well as his longstanding membership in the Topeka and Kansas Bar Associations.
